Come to the Seattle Silverlight User Group and see the first session of our Summer Series on Windows Phone 7 with Silverlight. With the help of Jaime Rodriquez and other Microsoftee's we will be getting down and dirty with Windows Phone 7 and getting to the meat of real phone 7 development.

This month we are also having an 'Ask The Expert' side session for beginners to help them come up to speed and start developing great Silverlight applications. If your new and want to learn this is the place to be.

New Summer Series on Windows Phone 7

The Seattle Silverlight user group is sponsoring a Phone 7 Series in conjuction with Microsoft and Jaime Rodriguez starting with the meat of phone 7 developement. Each month this summer along with our Ask the Experts available for beginners we will be having some one form the Phone 7 team or DPE come and present on topics related to windows phone 7.

Hello Everyone;

In the Silverlight World Microsoft is the center of everything, one would think that the user groups in and around Microsoft would be the biggest and most Awesomest in the world. We need your help in figuring out where to go from here. We as a community need YOU! :) if you can make it please come and help give input and ideas and if possible some time to help us get more organized :) and get people excited.

I know alot of your have done a great job doing presentations and in inspiring us and for those I hope only for ideas but the rest of you, we need your help :) We have 2 great Silverlight related user groups in the area, one that meets in Seattle and one that meets on campus, we need help from finishing web design to banner printing etc and speaker organization.

Please fill free to pass this on, the more the better. We'll be meeting in the Hyatt atrium in downtown Bellevue here:

Microsoft Silverlight 4 Data and Services Cookbook

Alas I find my self doing another book review... its not clear to me that I should continue to do that but on this particular book it heads in the right direction. As noted in an earlier post I find the idea of a cook book to be of particular interest and useful in my work with Silverlight. This book has gotten closer then any other to date in building the ideal Silverlight book. Albeit the book does make an attempt to teach Silverlight to some degree but it tends to be more of a reference book, the down side is that there is more in the book about teaching and less about more esoteric topics not connected to data. Certainly though for the professional Silverlight developer this is a great addition to your library.

Book Review: Silverlight 4 Business Application Development

I normally don't do book reviews here but this book is kind of cool and what I'm looking for. Silverlight 4 Business Application Development, here is a book that is kind of not so much on the UX side but what stands out about this book is the fact that it is more pictures and code then text especially when compared to a regular book. For me in particular this is awesome as Im more into pictures and code samples. Much like a recipe book this kind of thing is right up my ally so I can focus on making the applications User eXperience cool. That being the case I would recommend it. On the downside the book is from a publisher I haven’t not heard up and the technical editors are more well known in the authors but once getting past that its a good resource to have. There is much buzz around the newest capabilities of Silverlight 4 that position it to be a first class line of business (LOB) application platform.

This session will focus on navigation in out of the browser (OOB) LOB applications. We will examine how to implement non-linear navigation in Silverlight 4 OOB applications.
